CHELO, an esteemed B-BBEE level 1 organisation, is a registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) that was established in 2007 by a dedicated group of parents in collaboration with Hout Bay International School (HBIS).

HBIS plays a crucial role in providing school fees for students, while CHELO takes on the responsibility of covering all other direct expenses associated with education, including financial, social, and educational support for our bursary students. This comprehensive approach ensures that the students are not only able to attend school but also thrive in their educational environment. The expenses associated with this support can accumulate significantly, and we are proud to assist all 13 students, with one student in each year group starting from PYP1, which is the primary years 1 level.

CHELO can only accomplish this vital mission through ongoing fundraising efforts and the generous contributions of money, time, and energy from supportive parents and community members. This collective effort is essential to sustain the educational journeys of these students, allowing them to pursue their dreams and aspirations without the burden of financial constraints. The involvement of the community not only enriches the lives of the bursary students but also fosters a spirit of collaboration and shared purpose that benefits everyone involved.
