Last Friday, 6th March 2026, our community came together for an unforgettable day at the Festival of Fun: Bubble World. Despite the rain, over 700 people joined us to enjoy food stalls, live music, a special performance by the senior junior choir, and a silent disco for the older students. The event was not only a celebration but also a powerful way to support CHELO, our bursary programme dedicated to helping children from Hout Bay access quality education.
The event featured a variety of exciting activities designed to entertain attendees of all ages. Among the highlights was a face painting station. The bubble station offered a magical experience, allowing participants to create and chase bubbles of all sizes. For those seeking a thrill, the inflatable rocket launcher provided an exhilarating way, while zorb runs allowed adventurous individuals to roll down a track inside large inflatable balls. To top it all off, every attendee received a free bubble wand, ensuring that the joy of bubbles continued long after the event concluded.

A Day Filled with Joy and Community Spirit
The Festival of Fun brought together families, students, teachers, and local residents in a vibrant atmosphere. The rain did little to dampen spirits; instead, it added a cozy charm to the event. Food stalls offered a variety of delicious treats, ensuring everyone found something to enjoy.
Live music performances kept the energy high throughout the event. Local bands and musicians played a mix of genres, creating a soundtrack that appealed to all ages. The senior junior choir’s performance was a highlight, showcasing the talents of our students and bringing smiles to many faces.
For the older students, the silent disco was equipped with headphones, and they danced to their favourite tunes without disturbing others, creating a lively and inclusive space.
Supporting CHELO’s Mission
The Festival of Fun was more than just entertainment; it was a vital fundraiser for CHELO (Children of Hout Bay Education & Learning Opportunity). This bursary programme plays a crucial role in our community by providing financial support to children from local families, enabling them to attend our school and receive a world-class education.
By participating in the event, attendees contributed directly to this cause. Every ticket sold, every meal purchased, and every donation made helped raise funds that will go towards learning materials, and extracurricular activities. This support opens doors for many children who might otherwise face barriers to education.
LIVE MUSIC
Guests were thoroughly entertained by a vibrant group of music teachers and students from GetOnCo, who showcased their talents through a dynamic array of bands and cover performances. The atmosphere was electric as the musicians played a diverse selection of popular songs, ensuring there was something for everyone in the audience. From upbeat pop hits to soulful ballads, each performance captivated the crowd, encouraging sing-alongs and spontaneous dancing. The infectious energy of the performers created a joyful ambiance, making the event a memorable experience for all attendees and a true 'festival' vibe!
